Professional Standards Unit

The Office of Professional Standards Unit investigates all complaints against police department personnel. Their goal is to conduct investigations in a manner that will assure the community of prompt corrective action whenever police personnel conduct themselves improperly. They strive to protect the department and its personnel from unwarranted criticism pursuant to the discharge of their official duties. This unit also conducts extensive background investigations of all qualified applicants being considered for employment by the police department, as well a quarterly audits of the monetary funds within the Support Division and the Special Investigations Unit. This unit also tracks all responses to aggression and vehicle pursuits and provides monthly reports to the Chief of Police.
